Some of my favorite projects to do with students are the ones where we are inspired by the work of professional photographers. We learn about their lives and their working styles, and then do a photo project in the style of that photographer. It has become a great platform for me to introduce my students to new skills and editing processes.
This photo was inspired by Jordi Puig, who uses objects in the foreground of his photos, along with water, smoke, or small objects as if they are coming toward the viewer. He also uses a limited, but vibrant, color palette when editing his photos.
I included two edits of this photo, one with a more limited color palette, and one with the bright sunset colors that Jordi is known for. Which one do you like better, 1 or 2?

When not taking photos of family and friends or traveling around the world, I can be found in my classroom at Eagle Peak Middle School! Teaching has always been my passion and it is amazing being able to share my passion for photography and design with my students.
